Med Nerd
People complain that I don't blog enough but the thing is, I don't want to blog about med stuff too much b/c honestly, it's probably only interesting to me and I don't wanna bore the 3 people that probably still read this blog. BUT that said, today was the cooooooolest med day I've ever had so I have to share.
1. I got to use the paddles today! Shocked someone to try to return their heart rhythm back to normal (from atrial fibrillation).
2. Met a patient with Tourette's syndrome -- has all the stereotypical features including uncontrolled swearing (nerd word of the day = coprolalia)
3. Saw my first delivery!!!! Pretty cute baby too!
4. Ok this isn't "happy" but interesting... a previously completely healthy patient came into emerg 'just' with nausea and vomiting and when I looked at the results and took the history and physical exam, I thot that something must be pretty wrong (okay, I'm an alarmist and I was so sure the patient had some kind of renal cancer or something). It turns out that most likely the patient has polycystic kidney disease.
